Saturday was a good example of what stokes me. Woke up ~5am in the water by 7, HH clean and fun. Posed for a while on the beach afterwards and home by noon. Finally got around to painting the quarterround for the hardwoods I put down last year. Must've smoked a dozen cigs while doing it. While blowing the downed limbs from the winter winds off the deck I saw the first hummingbird of the year. Fired up the grill and cooked up some bacon-wrapped shrimp and new york strip. Ate while watching the sun set over the coast range. What a nice day.

Nice day CC! I love this time of year, got my first couple hummers this weekend as well. Did you hang your sugar water?
My nasties are all sprouting and sunflowers, zuchs, cukes, beans and snap peas are chillen in the greenhouse. Stoked.

Stoked from a fist fight I was in a week ago.....especially, now that the pain has gone away.

I keep forgetting to get some nectar, does sugar water works as well?
Before I got eye surgery I used to think pelicans where surfers, shows how blind I was. I like watching em flying low over the water, so graceful.

Coincidence? Well that depends? Was yours a southern ball throated hummer or a Northern pucker breasted hummer?
I also got a tufted titmouse and a bushtit, thankgod for spring and the arousal of the tits! Now Im on the look out for a nice little sapsucker.
C, dont feed them the 'nectar' from the stores, that crap has additivies that are not good for the birds. Three parts water to one part suger and you dont need to add red dye.

Ahh, the joys of middle management wasteland. At least you're not on the bottom anymore. (go ahead Doc, here's your cue) I was happy to take my baby step up recently.
Got the store stuff but made sure to get the stuff without red 40. Wouldn't want to give them the same stuff there pumping into our kids.
