Burnside Skatepark.

I only ever make a couple of pilgramiges a year (weird, since I could skate there in half an hour) but that place is the Holy Grail of skateboarding. So hard to skate properly, so raw and dirty. It is so humbling but it in a good way.

I skated there on Friday with Prag and EV. Low-key session but very cleansing. I will be paying more respects in The Church of Skatan more often from now on. Sorry dark lord for neglecting you for so long...

For those that care, Burnside is under some heat right now due to some 'localism' and someone who didn't know how to handle it. If you go, be cool with the locs and be cool with the cops. Keep the booze and drugs on the DL.

I fear one day Burnside will meet a wrecking ball and all hell will break loose in Portland.

That is a good one. It certainly is the best surfing cinematic scene.

Anyway, seen Before Night Falls about Reinaldo Arenas, the Cuban poet?

There is an amazing scene in that in whcih he attends a party and there's this wild up-beat Cuban music, everyone is going crazy and he is trying to take it all in. The viewer sees the whole thing from his perspective and inside his head is this more slow-tempo soothing music but still everyone is dancing like mad to actual music. It really emphasizes the distance between his mind and his physical self. (Later on, this is crucial as his is imprisoned for his words and sexuality....) It is stunning viewing as the camera pans around the grounds of the house, uncut....

Johnny Depp is pretty good in that film also.

My absolute favourite cinematic scene is the opening scene to Wenders' 'Wings Of Desire'
Wow, its on Youtube..

It's going on my Olmo. I never let that bike out of my sight. Either it's underneath me or put away inside. My commute is only a few feet out my back door.
