I'm sure you all find the 'Islands' stickers annoying. Of course you do. If I wasn't from Hawaii I probobly would too.
Hate all you want. Hawaiians represent with pride that most people cannot understand. It's not to rub peoples noses in it, it's just a pride in being from a such a special place.
Plus, when I see the Islands (or other Hawaiian style sticker - the authentic kind, not the cheesedick tourist kind) on someone's car, I know they are from Hawaii and they have instant respect and Aloha from me. I have strangers come up to me all the time and ask me if I am from Hawaii because they see my stickers, and then proceed to treat me like I was their bruddah from Waikapu. It's universal. I was in Seattle over New Years and was talking story in the park with a huge moke who I had never met before while our kids played together. He approached me because he say my truck and my hat. It was like we was long lost family. Hawaiians share a special bond. The stickers are just a small part of it.
So go ahead, get annoyed. You have my sympathy. I wish you were all from Hawaii too. Then you would understand.
P.S. - I do think the turtle stickers are played out and kind of #$* (rhymes with hay) even if I do have one on my truck.
MAUI BUILT!
