I hate that and feel your pain Dub. Since i moved here i gotten 11 parking tickets, 1 red light violation, and a no/pay toll road ticket. So many damn cars here and not enough parking space and there are times during the week that the city sweeps the road and if your not familiar or forget what time of day/ time they sweep the, your azz is going to get a ticket. I think i done my part to stimulate the California economy.

Wife was in the emergency room last week twice. Could not walk, eat, drink or get out of bed. They thought she had Pnemonia. They didn't even do x-rays. Second time in the did do the x-rays and determined it was neither Pnemonia nor the Flu. They have no idea what irus she has, and they say her white cell and platelet levels are half of what they should be. She is getting better, but it was pretty scary. Now i've got it.

Ask the doctor if it is Idyopathic Thrombocytopenic Purapura (also known as ITP). I got that about 10 years ago when I lived in SD. It is VERY rare in adults (more common in little kids and old people with weaker immune systems) and is basically an extreme viral event (in that it follows up a long term virus which has severley weaked your immune system - in my case I had an endless bad cold and was still partying everynight, up early to surf in the cold polluted water, work all day and then repeat, and then drive back and forth to Mammoth on the weekends - no rest ever) in which your body stops making platelets. I was violently ill and went to the urgent care and wound up in the hospital on an IV for a few days. I had to stay home from work for 2 weeks to rebound, but once it was gone, no worries. Docs said it is a freak thing, but not something that will recur easily or at all. I havent had it again, but since I have taken better care of myself when I have colds or am sick.

Good luck.

Really? I had no idea, you should try to work that fact into your posts a little more often

We all make choices in life, as soon as you either except your reality, or do something to change it, you will be a happier person. Then again being able to walk will probably improve your mood sufficiently.

Yeah, you should spend some time with me....it'd drive you nuts, BRAH!

You think you are so wise with this babble, but you miss the point. The only reason I am here (Eugene) is because I made a sacrifice for my wife to attend a solid grad school program. The plan always was, when she was done, we would get the fuhk out and go back to the beach. This is not about an inability to accept my reality or change it. My time here is a sacrifice for someone I love. That doesn't mean I have to "love it or leave it".

You are right about the foot though. If I could be surfing or snowboarding, or even just get the hell out of here once in a while, I wouldn't be so damm bored with this town and bitter about being here.

Oregon is a great place, you will probably understand the full extent of how great once you have left, I did and came back...

I am wondering about your reading comprehension. Where did I say I didn’t like Oregon? What I don’t like is living in Eugene, away from the ocean.

Oregon is indeed a great place. I never said it wasn't. Great mountains and a beautiful coast. But I am stuck in the middle in a town of rednecks and hippies and am over it. And yes, as Dub pointed out, I lived here before and left - twice. The first time I moved to Colorado for a year and came back to finish school. The second time I never intended to come back (never even thought about it - walking the block to the beach from my house in Encinitas was way too nice of a setup to want to come back here) until it was clear that it would be very beneficial for my wife. So here we are again. When we leave again, I doubt we will be back for a fourth stint. This is not for any lack of love for Oregon (I will certainly visit often), but in my profession, I will be stuck living in places like Portland or Eugene (as the Oregon coastal and mountain communities do not offer any opportunities), and neither is really where I want to be. I need to be coastal. I believe that was Dub's point that started all of this before you got all defensive about Oregon. Nobody said Oregon sucks. Don't get your panties all in a bunch because I'd rather live coastal (with warmer water). Oregon is awesome. But I am tired of Eugene.

P.S. - Dub you better make that move so I can come visit!

Oregon owned 22 years of my life. Great place, love certain areas to death, but I'm pretty sure San Diego has the next 22. No intention on heading North again; 90% of Oregonians bitching about life for 8 months out of the year has taken it's toll on me.
Boardriding is about timing and style...It’s youthful, active, casual, and free flowing. There is no wrong way to ride a board. The goal is simply to learn, progress, improve, and give it your own interpretation.

Thanks!

Dub, you get alot more surf than I do, and it is commendable. But I think you may also need to get back to the coast more than I do. haha..

The south pacific is calling you...
