Monday Monday...
Love that day...
Solid and empty...
9'8" and leashless...
Rights & lefts...
Lefts smaller and bowling...
Rights bigger and walling up...
Best wave was a chest high right...
That just kept on giving...
All the way in...
Had to swim at the end of it due to carelessness...
But I needed a break...
Overall, a solid 7 of a day...
A bit windy, a bit warbly...
But really sunny for a rainy day.

Got in the water at 7:15 this am at SS.
5 guys in the water.

Waves were small but I didnt really care. I headed down to the north end where the combination of the cliff, trees, waterfall, blue sky, clear water and little peelers was almost too good to be true. The beauty of that spot never fails to impress me. My soul tank is full, my feet are sandy and I am back in NE kickin it with my sons.

I do feel bad for everyone heading out west today, the traffic was off the charts.

Any firsthand reports from today's swell? PDX desk jockeys are dying to know.

never ceases to amaze me what a few half decent waves can do to smack a filthy goddamn mood into submission.

Had a blast at Indian after work yesterday. Head high to slightly overhead with quite a bit of cross chop. Reminded me of Floridian hurricane swell.

Fun today...
Some head high peaks...
Pretty steep...
But not alot of juice...
Still, many waves to be surfed...
And not so many on it...
Which was nice...
Even Gaz surfed.

Pretty fun conditions yesterday on the N. coast. Waist - chest lumps and bumps. Surfed up until low tide then bailed for
beers and chill time.

Sounds like I should been surfing with Doc and Gazza.

Quick dip this AM...
Not as good as yesterday...
But still a wave here and there...
Only lasted about 90 minutes...
Due to other pressing matters...
Found one or 2 pretty solid rights...
Which while riding...
Looked over the shoulder...
Quickly ditched...
And scratched back outside...
Rather than suffer...
A drubbing on the inner bar...
Traded the under gunned Greystoke...
The 9'4" Genius for a flimsy stinger quad...
And watched him get a few good ones...
Day 3 tomorrow...
For a rare weekend surf...
I need some carbon offsets...
But all my money goes for gas.

didn't look like much, but there was a small window of surprisingly fun waves sat AM as the tide filled in, but before the W picked up. best surf for me in a while, which is mostly a reflection of how crappy it's been the last few times I've been out. still, it's amazing how the stoke from one or two good little waves makes it all seem worthwhile.
on a different subject, anyone know anything about sand moving around? seems like there's been a big buildup at several beaches and i'm wondering if this is just a quirk or if it's some sort of permanent change.

THU
NW WIND 10 TO 15 KT. WIND WAVES 3 FT. W SWELL 7 FT AT
20 SECONDS
...BECOMING SW 5 FT AT 20 SECONDS IN THE AFTERNOON.
PATCHY FOG IN THE MORNING.

Is this the swell that rocked Tahiti last week and Hawaii the past couple of days?

Do you think there is any chance it will actually materialize here?

Stoked for September...

NW 5' @ 7 + SW 1' @ 22 = W 7' @ 20 apparently

I'm predicting less than epic conditions...

My first & last surf report :
Went to the place where Portland goes to surf.
First time there this year.
Never made it there last year.
But I digress.
Buoy said 8 ft.
My eyes saw 4 ft.
Straight onshore.
Kinda choppy.
Kinda bumpy.
Most assuredly weak.
Few surfers.
Fewer catching waves.
Had 50 yards of empty space on either side of me.
Caught approximately 10 waves of varying mediocracy.
Drove home.
The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has limits.

Portlanders or Benders? Tough choice. Until the wind turns S again and we can all surf together as one big happy family.
