Though I agree with you, I have never understood the whole cop-killer-is-worse-than-a-joe-citizen-killer thought process.
Why does the president have more security than the average citizen? Why should we persue someone who assassinated a president more than your average citizen?
Because if we do not, it only encourages others by telling them they might get away with it and the fact of the matter is we do not need more people dead that have the very job of helping to keep you safe.
Also, if your average citizen is murdered, I'm sure their family and freinds take up the war path. These cops were family and freinds and any cop you know would love to have the opportunity to go after a guy like this sans pay. You murder a civillian, its another day on the job.
What were they supposed to do? Pretend it's just another day on the job, file the paperwork and leave some sticky notes about the incident on someones computer screen?
I understand the thought process Wilbur, but it is still illogical.
