What stoketh thee...

This forum is for SURF topics such as localism and rants that are usually negative in nature. If you're a baby, complainer, or generally think you're right and everyone else is wrong this is the place for you. Though I agree with you, I have never understood the whole cop-killer-is-worse-than-a-joe-citizen-killer thought process.

Why does the president have more security than the average citizen? Why should we persue someone who assassinated a president more than your average citizen?

Because if we do not, it only encourages others by telling them they might get away with it and the fact of the matter is we do not need more people dead that have the very job of helping to keep you safe.

Also, if your average citizen is murdered, I'm sure their family and freinds take up the war path. These cops were family and freinds and any cop you know would love to have the opportunity to go after a guy like this sans pay. You murder a civillian, its another day on the job.

What were they supposed to do? Pretend it's just another day on the job, file the paperwork and leave some sticky notes about the incident on someones computer screen?

I understand the thought process Wilbur, but it is still illogical.

Trula, I did not know you were a street cop.

Blusnots, all you did was expand on a point I already acknowledged. I get the whole theory about a cop killer being more dangerous blah blah....I just don't buy it.

At the risk of bieng misunderstood (there's something new) all I will say is that (based on 2008 crime statistics) 41 other murders were comitted on the same day these cops were slain.

Where is the outrage about that?
Where is the outrage about the children that get beat, raped, killed, by the very ones who are supposed to love and protect them?

I do not respect cops anymore than I do anyone else. I do not fear them. I apreciate them for what they do, at least the good ones, but beyond that, they are merely human beings with badges and guns.

simple pleasures.

And me...finding RACER 5 on tap on the east coast over the Holidays. Sandwiched between the Stella and Newcastle nut brown in what is surely one of the oldest breweries in the country. Brewing in this very building since 1703!! Farking eh, that's history!

Well Wilby, if you have a problem with the way they handled it, send some e-mails and ask them exactly why they reacted the way they did for 4 officer deaths. I'm sure they would be happy to respond.

Blue/Tru

You guys really do not get what I am saying.
I have no prblem with the way the ultimate street gang gunned down the killer of some of thier homies...seriously...I am all for it.

What I am against is the ignorant position that a cops life is worth more than someone elses.

Enough.

Respond elsewhere, I will delete any further posts on this matter in this particular thread, we are wrong to discuss it amidst all this stoke.
