Sick shot Spent, with a set-up like that you can get shacked and shagged on the same wave.

Went South yesterday for a change of scenery and some shelter from the wind. Scenery was epic, wind was strong outta the north but 100 yards out felt like it was blowing offshore...?? Got into some playful head high rights near low tide in the sun with 4 others out. Going right was refreshing. No whales or barrels but all in all worthy sesh...

I did a five hour drive for a hot date with some desolate beach breaks and points last weekend. Good for the soul before armageddon =)

I didn't drive 5 hours.

Thought if I was going to kick off today I'd like to do it in the water. I lived through a few not so shatty sessions at the lower. Looks like the rapture happened and the only one chilling with Jesus is Macho Man.

Checked a few spots mid morning that all had that pasta without sauce look, drove to Shorties but couldn't get myself to turn into the lot which was full of smiling faces, dogs and logs. Drove on to one more spot then back tracked to the first spot. It still had that sin salsa thing going on but paddled out and dangled my bait alone for a couple of hours. No real waves to speak of but a couple of entertaining close outs, so how epic was Shorties?

Drove five hours north to catch the south. A fine mix of long interval south and long interval north made for some nice waves on Saturday. Today a new WNW showed and brought some serious clean up sets. Buoys ringing 6 on 15 or so. Spent a lot of time getting impatient and going inside turning to see a set feathering a couple sandbars out, getting mowed, then waiting outside, getting bored. Etc etc. Got some gems in between. Tomorrow I'll see what the strait says about the supposed 7' 13 seconds heading down the pipe. Should be something. Looking forward to the predictability of reefs vs beach break.

canucks 4/sharks 2 BTW

SJF Saturday was similar to what Erzatz described, head-high plus and glassy, occasional peeler with lots of closeouts mixed in. Lots of current made staying lined up difficult, requiring constant paddling. Caught a couple of the bigger waves of the season. Pretty fun go-out overall. Sunday was a little smaller, but choppy and the swell seemed more from the south. Major rebound off the jetty messed things up. Swirling currents made getting outside tough, one section of the rip was actually running backwards. First time I've ever really felt the threat of possibly getting washed up onto the rocks. 2nd session in the river with friends was fun in the bright sunshine and tiny, but glassy. Absolutely beautiful day on the beach. The old back shoulders were feelin' it this morning.
Life is too important to be taken seriously.

Straits have been nice. Three days in a row with out much of a drive and home before noon. Could have gone a bit farther for better but it's nice to settle once in a while when it means mellow surf with just a couple friends.
