I finally read this thread at least I have Loli and Stiffy to hangout with. I came so close to buying a new board today. If I had the self control of Sparkomatic I would have walked out of there with two. Dang 9 footers don't fit in my car. (I paid off my car instead she is all mine.)

Just two? Oh come on.. you know you would have bought out the shop and had their shaper start shaping only boards for you

This is an evil post due to it's Jungian leanings. The fluid ego self wants to rise to the more positive elements of this structure, while not always being worthy of such a position. Then an unworthy, self interested party in the form of Wilbur acts as sole arbiter of standing in said lineup, moving on whim and fancy individuals who respond to this initial rating. It is very obvious that this system is severly flawed and needs to be reworked. Someone with standing in the community should step forward and bring a modicum of restraint to the random nature of this ego driven screed.....I hope this helped my standing, thanks, in no way should this appear self serving in any way, noooo not at all, carry on!

Hard to resist defining where you stand in the world.

I submit, Wilbur, that you forgot a group: the nobodies.

They're not loners. You say hi, they'll say hi back. They're not hot shots, nor are they newbies. They're not locals, at the spot day in and day out, and yet ... and yet their mug is familiar. You know you've seen that board before and you know you've been seeing that board at spots up and down the coast for a long time. They're committed but not in a chest-thumping or obsessive way. Just quietly going about their business enjoying surfing and the things connected to it.

There's a whole lot of nobodies out there getting a lot of surf.

Dr Kookmeyer,
I have been observing your classifications and feel compelled to compliment you on your judgements. Keep up the good work.
